The seas and winds can be daunting, and so can be a marina full of boats. When sailing confidence is key, decisions need to be taken on the spot. Having a safe, controlled and fun space to practice can be key to develop your confidence.
There are many skills to learn, and quite often there’s a couple stubborn ones.
There are different levels for any of these skills, from complete beginner to advanced. We will start wherever you are at.
Chart reading, assessing route options, noting dangers along the way and planning a safe route.
Navigating the planned route using conventional charts or chart plotters.
Understanding weather forecasts for the area you are navigating and making safe decisions around it.
Making a sail configuration plan based on weather and planned route.
Hoisting, unfurling and trimming sails according to the conditions, boat capabilities and confort requirements.
Docking manoeuvres including alongside, stern to, med mooring, etc.
Attaching to mooring balls and anchoring,
Safety manoeuvres drills, under engine and sail.
Developing the habit of always having a Plan B.
